STEAM: Hands-on, Minds-On Learning

STEAM learning uses a hands-on approach in applying Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math concepts to design and create, providing a deeper, more authentic understanding of learning. At SJV, students have a variety of paths to discover interests, grow valuable skills, and build confidence in their ability to solve problems and make decisions – both in school and beyond.

STEAM Lab

Our STEAM Lab offers students in Kindergarten through 8th grade opportunities for student-led, project based learning in coding, 3-D printing, robotics, graphic design, arthitectural design, videography, and other innovative areas of learning. Students learn by doing, working together and with partners to problem-solve and work through challenges. Concepts learned and practiced in the STEAM Lab directly support their learning in Science, Math, and Art, and build students skills in collaboration and presentation of their ideas.

STEAM-Based Science Curriculum

All students learn by doing. Aligned with Next Generation Science standards, our Science curriculum leads students in all grades to discover and experiment by integrating science, mathematics and literacy through an interdisciplinary approach.

Makers Space

Innovative ideas take shape in the Makers Space. Designed to inspire creative thinking, this space is loaded with tools and materials for student creative expression. Students design projects and display boards, tinker with tools, and imagine here.
