So, what is “Inquiry?” At its most basic, inquiry is understood to be a request for information. It can also be a systematic investigation or examination into facts or principles. At St. John Vianney, Inquiry is the process of learning more about the Catholic faith through investigation, and examination of facts and principles based upon requests for information.
Historically, Inquiry was the beginning phase of entry into RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation) programs. The RCIA is now affectionately referred to as the OCIA (Order of Christian Initiation), but is still the same process by which people come in to full communion with the Church. Inquiry is still a precursor to the OCIA, but it is not exclusively for people who desire to become Catholic. It is also available for people who are already Catholic and would like to learn more about details of the Faith that may have been missed along the way, or for the folks who would benefit from a refresher because it has been so long since initial formation. Whatever the case, if you have an inquiring mind and want to learn more about Catholicism, please join us for Inquiry at 9:00 AM on Sundays in the parish office conference room, beginning July 17, 2022.
